What if?
Welcome to the What If? Chronicles!
Upon first glance, any number of neural reactions will occur, from cynicism to disbelief to curiosity to resonance. The first question that you need to ask yourself is, “How in the world did I find this page?” Maybe you will think, “What if I actually believe this stuff?” or “What if this information changes my life forever, what will I be doing one year from now?”
Let me give you a little background on my journey. Having lived many years now, I have always been a spiritual person, usually in an unorthodox vein. I was curious enough spiritually to check out the traditional church, but intellectually honest enough to question everything I was hearing. In most cases, it was not long before I was being side-eyed by the leaders and soon marginalized when they found out what I actually thought and believed. Sure, I absolutely believe the Holy Bible! In fact, I found out that I believed more of it than most pastors of the Christian faith. Each of whom that I have met or listened to have their own selections on what to believe and not believe. That was astounding to me. How in the world can a pastor preach God’s word to me and in the same breath deny certain passages, isolating them as dispensations for other generations. That does none of us any good, and whether they realize it or not, it breeds disbelief and resentment.
With that said, I have spent most of my adult life studying, memorizing and meditating on Biblical scripture. I feel like I have a decent feel for God’s plan for mankind and His desire to interact with us. I truly believe this whole Kingdom of God thing is real––more real than we could possibly know this side of eternity. Again, let me share with you some valuable insight into the spiritual world: It’s real! In fact, if the normal, living, breathing human being were to suddenly begin to live consciously aware of the spiritual realm, this world would change overnight. Literally!
- What if we were all aware of the entire universe and more, especially of things we cannot see with our physical eyes and hear with our physical ears?
- What if our decision-making process included knowledge of that decision’s impact on the rest of humanity, and we adjusted or changed said decision before we acted?
- What if we had the ability to see things from God’s perspective concerning the world around us?
These questions are just for starters. There is much more to explore in the weeks and months to come. But let me throw one What if? out there, just to pique your interest.
- What if God really created the universe out of things that don’t appear, seemingly out of nothing, as the Scriptures say?
This idea did not originate with the Big Bang theory. However, that theory offers a lot of insight into how God did it. Astrophysicists say that all that exists sprang from a point much smaller than the period at the end of this sentence. The compression of matter was so intense that when released, the universe literally exploded into existence. Electrons were discharged, atoms came into being, elements were created, light became visible, energy flowed, and eventually stars and planets formed out of the cosmic energy and dust. All of that and more! In fact, if we take a moment to research and understand, we see that creation is still taking place in our universe. As mankind learns and grows, we develop telescopes that can literally see back in time, nearly as far back as that moment when the universe as we know it all exploded into existence.
What if the moment that explosion happened all began in response to the words: “Let there be light”?
And what if that light has everything to do with us?
